The Sweeten Family Blogg

Ok   I am not computer savey  i can't even spell savey right according to spell check but it is a start.  We had a great weekend in St. George.  Lyle and Danielle's temple sealing and Madison's baptism.  I didn't realize that Dad was 87 I thought he was 84 so now he is really looking good.  Mom will be 80 this year.    We talked to Mom about what she would like as far as celebrating her 80th birthday and she said she would like to have Thanksgiving with everyone.  Thanksgiving is on the 25th this year so maybe we could have a big Thanksgiving and invite May, Calvin and June too.  Any ideas? We have a great family and we keep adding more amazing additions by birth and by marriage.  This blog, hopefully will help us keep updated on our expanding family.  Some of us are on Facebook which has been great, but this will hopefully be something we can all use and keep updated with information and pictures.  We have all been blessed with a great heritage.  Dad is one of three left of his large family and I think Mom is also the last of three.  Try and keep everyone updated with what is going on in your families.  I entered the email list I had to start but please enter the ones that are missing.     So to start with in our family Josh and Ashley will be getting married in the Boise Temple on September 17th.  we are planning on taking a motor home up probably early that morning and coming home that night (late) anyone that wants to come is invited to come with us.  The next weekend September 24th we will be having an Open House at our house and everyone is invited  I have been trying to update my address list from McCalls list so if you have moved or not entered it on the Facebook link enter it here.   Riley has been making a lot of progress,  he will be going to a new elementary school in Lehi in the autistic program.  He had a small spot show up on the right side of his brain on an MRI and so they will be doing another MRI or Cat scan with dye on September 10th at Primary Children's Hospital.  He continues to amaze me.   I look forward to hearing from you and love all of you.    Tori

  1. Well Hello Sweeten Family, I have finally figured out how to post comments, maybe in time, I will figure out how to load pictures! Dad and I and Tristan and Cameron went on a road trip on Saturday, October 2nd. It was a family history trip and we started in the Lindon Cemetary. Next we drove to Spanish Fork to look at the old Dream mine, we couldn't get very close but Dad was able to show the boys where he and his mom and younger sisters had camped in tents in a meadow below the mine and the story behind it. Then we went to the Pioneer Memorial Cemetary in SF which has a plaque with our Greatgrandmother, Mary Gardner Sweeten's name on it along with some of the other pioneers believed buried there. It has a fantastic view of the valley and is a very beautiful setting. Next we drove up Provo Canyon and stopped at Bridal Veil Falls where Dad told us about the cafe he and his mother and sisters ran for one summer in the 30's Dad was 13 so it must have been 1937. He told us about hitchhiking to Heber for live chickens for the chicken lunches they provided to the Chamber of Commerce members for 35 cents! We stopped for lunch at Chick's cafe in Heber and then drove to Hugh and Warren's graves in Woodland? Sorry, I wasn't writing things down. Along the way we stopped at a house Hugh and Beth had lived in and remodeled that belonged in the Wharton family whose cousin had bought it back from Beth. She took us through the downstairs part and the yard. After that we drove through Wolf Creek Pass and admired all the beautiful scenery. Then back through Heber and home. It was a fun time for all of us and the boys got to hear some of Dad's wonderful and descriptive stories. We look forward to our next outing. Hope everyone is well. Love you all!! Sheryl
